Julia Mitchell is a brave 16-year-old who is celebrating a milestone birthday. Community members rallied to surprise her for her big day with a big birthday parade. The teen was so stunned, she was rendered nearly speechless. The parade was meant not only to celebrate Mitchell’s birthday, but to honor her fight against bone cancer.

This video documents a heartwarming surprise organized by an Arizona community for 16-year-old Julia Mitchell, who is undergoing treatment for bone cancer [00:00]. As a gesture of support for her 16th birthday, the community organized a parade while she was resting outside [00:06], [00:20].

The surprise was particularly meaningful because Julia had been working at Subway when she was 15 to save money for a car, but her cancer diagnosis forced her to stop working [00:26], [00:32]. The community's gift of a new car provided her with a much-needed morale boost [00:16].

Julia, who was overwhelmed with emotion and stated she was at a loss for words [00:10], [00:44], is expected to complete her cancer treatment in April [00:44]. She plans to get her driver's license once she finishes her treatment and rings the ceremonial bell [00:49].
