He didn't fail because he didn't lock up the guns. He failed because he refused to acknowledge his son's broken brain, didn't intervene, allowed him to rot his mind on social media, and chose to give him ready access to firearms.

You don't give your mental health child a g un. You give that child therapy. Just because that's YOUR child does not mean he's a saint. In fact, this particular child is the opposite of a saint. This parent failed to parent throughout his son's entire life. Some people should not be parents.
