Story 2: The Revenge of the Bucktooth (Sigurd the Mighty) [14:54]

In the late 9th century, Sigurd Eysteinsson (known as Sigurd the Mighty), a feared

Viking leader, led an army to conquer parts of Scotland [14:54]. He arranged a battle and negotiation with Mael Brigte ("Mael the Bucktoothed"), a Scottish ruler known for his prominent front teeth [15:21].

The Battle: Sigurd’s forces easily overwhelmed Mael's army, and Sigurd personally decapitated Mael [19:11].

On July 11, 1978, Francisco Bernabeu Valenia, a veteran long-haul truck driver, was transporting highly flammable pressurized liquid gas

across Spain [28:59].

The Warning Ignored: Earlier that morning, a younger warehouse employee warned Francisco that he had severely overfilled his tanker truck [29:16]. Pressurized gas requires room to expand, especially on hot summer days [29:34]. Dismissing the warning out of pride and routine, Francisco set off anyway [30:06].

Avoiding Tolls: To save money on highway toll fees, Francisco took a scenic coastal bypass route [24:38].

The Disaster: Around 2:30 PM, while passing the crowded Los Alfaques campsite packed with families and tourists, the

intense summer heat caused the overpressurized gas inside the tanker to expand past its limit [25:27].

The tanker exploded into a massive fireball over a mile wide [26:40]. The initial explosion triggered chain-reaction detonations of camper van gas canisters and portable grills throughout the campsite [30:54].
