"carbon copies" of one another. The host breaks down the timeline of events, the backlash from creators, real-life mean-girl behavior at industry events, and the industry mechanics behind why influencer content has become so uniform.

Key Discussion Points & Timeline

A TikTok user named martini feni (who had only around 200 followers at the time) posted a clip stating that NYC influencers are boring, repetitive, and carbon copies of each other [01:39].

She called out shared tropes: wearing the same hand chains, shopping on Revolve, going to Pilates, drinking matcha, and po

sting sponsored morning routines [02:08].

The video resonated widely, drawing thousands of agreeing comments that pointed out how phony and formulaic these routines feel [03:00].

2. The Backlash and "Hit Dogs Holler" Responses [05:46]

Although no specific individuals were named in the original post, prominent N

YC creators immediately took offense and pushed back [02:46].

Acquired Style (Bridget) posted a snarky duet mocking the original video, which backfired and caused her to get ratioed and temporarily log off [09:53, 22:05].

Other influencers like Kit Keenan, Haley Kate, Lexi Hidalgo, and Carly Weinstein jumped in

to the commentary, framing the critique as "hate," "jealousy," or inappropriate for International Women's Day [08:07, 14:05, 16:27].

Vogue photographer and creator Olivia Joan shared a story about being confronted at a brand dinner by an influencer (later deduced to be Acquired Style) [27:33, 32:42].

The influencer audited her follower count, made dismissive remarks about her being at the event, and caused her to leave in tea

4. The Business Behind the "Boring" Formula [34:31]

The host references a Wall Street Journal article revealing that many of these creators belong to the same talent management agency [34:45].

Managers implement a "factory production method" for content, building repeated, monetizable "conten

This reliance on algorithmically safe formulas sacrifices authenticity for predictable corporate sponsorships [36:14].

@MissMaven12
She was generous just calling them "boring." She could've said they are a bunch of vapid, cliche, self-absorbed, out of touch, spoiled, entitled clones who have never had a unique or interesting thought in their lives.
@punpun2271
That one girl saying "My content is making a difference." Bruhhhh, you post your excessive, wasteful, fake morning routine, you're not a revoultionary. These influencers delude themselves into thinking they are meaningful contributors to the world when they're glorified salespeople, but the products they sell are less than useless.
@CassyGoyette
These are people who say “clearly you’re not a girls girl” and then sleep with their besties boyfriend 😂
@plum-s2h
all of them also have a somewhat minimalist white/beige/few colors apartment... kind of reminds me of a mental hospital, ironically

I will never forget when I heard that it’s not normal for the average human to receive thousands of compliments on a daily basis. These influencers are ADDICTED to ppl being obsessed with them and feel like they’ll die after one negative comment. It’s not normal!! They’re all just so puffed up…without even having any actual creative, artistic, or intelligent skill/gift! It’s just crazy.
