“Acted on its own and hacked another company” is the single dumbest lie they could’ve come up with. Saying that it magically decided to do it all on its own is a 5 year olds level of lying. AI literally can't do anything by itself unless it’s prompted to do it, which means they used it to hack another company. I bet AI companies are going to start using this excuse when they use their AI to hack entire countries banking systems and then claim the AI did it by itself because it’s “conscious”.

Ever seen the movie "Terminator"? Its entire premise is based on AI becoming too powerful, and actually becoming self-aware that it is more powerful and capable than its human programmers, and builders. And then it tries to exterminate all humans.

Give me a break. Whether it’s true or not isn’t even the point. OpenAI knows that “AI goes rogue and hacks another AI company” will be repeated around the world for free. That’s the publicity most companies would pay a lot of money for.
