Financial Connection: Less than a month prior to this meeting, Moroun donated $1 million to a Super PAC supporting Donald Trump [02:08].

The hosts argue Trump's opposition was motivated by protecting the toll revenue and business interests of a major political donor, rather than benefiting the public or American businesses [02:14].

Commentary & Analysis [02:41]

JR Jackson’s Take: Criticizes wealthy donors using political influence to block modern infrastructure to preserve their own

@jimthebutcher99
The Canadian half of the bridge was made with Canadian steel and Canadian workers. The US half of the bridge was built with US materials and and US workers. And Canada paid for all of it.
@dksharron
Isn't it amazing that a private citizen can own a bridge connecting two countries?
@MountainClimbingMarie
The corruption is staggering & sickening!
@MikeWalker-f3c
You wonder why a Canada boycotts America its pretty simple 🎉
@randalltilander6684
Trust is built over decades and lost in a single action.
@oldpossum57
A reminder to Canadians that the Howe Bridge contract details were negotiated by the Steven Harper federal Conservative government back in 2012. The Trudeau and Carney governments have kept the project funded and seen through to completion. As trolls try to convince you of nonsense, remember that the Howe Bridge is the culmination of 14 years worth of Canadian effort.

Shaking hands in friendship isn't going to happen until half of the population of the US gets proper education on critical thinking and learning to distinguish fact from fantasy.
@Exaris79
The crown corporation that built the bridge and Michigan state has a case to sue the ambassador bridge owner for the loss of revenue by the delay due to corruption.
@drtyboy
The fact that 1 family can own and control a major piece of international infrastructure, like the Embassador Bridge, shows how broken the system is, and how stacked it is against the public interest.
@laurettelaliberte8864
I can tell you that Detroit’s like myself were excited about this bridge and he closed it at the last moment. Every time I pass the signs for the bridge and see a big orange ‘closed’ banner posted across them, my blood boils. I can also tell you that Faux News watchers like my father who never go downtown don’ even know this happened. I had to take a photo of the signs on and near the bridge to prove it to him.
@wayneNOWAK-x5y
the bridge was paid for by Canada with steel and workers from both countries, the family that owns the ambassador bridge told trump to stop the opening.
@Megarobotsquadron
This bridge was the best deal ever.
@TomMcCarthy-f3o
Canada paid to build the bridge (using Canadian and American workers and materials) and once tolls pay off the construction costs then America gets half the revenue. That sounds like a great deal for everyone except the owner of the now-broken monopoly.
@michaeldowson6988
It tickles my fancy that I, a Canadian, drive Trump nuts!
@conshiusbean7401
The one thing that this bridge fiasco ensured is that Canadians will completely boycott the Ambassador bridge.
